The FIFA World Cup 2026™ has officially begun with matches starting on June 11 in Mexico City. This edition marks a historic expansion of the tournament, featuring 48 teams competing across 104 matches hosted in 16 cities across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
It is the largest World Cup ever staged in terms of teams, matches, and host locations.

The tournament now includes 48 national teams divided into 12 groups of four. This expanded format increases the total number of matches to 104, creating a longer and more globally inclusive competition.

HOST CITIES ACROSS THREE COUNTRIES
World Cup matches are being played across 16 official host cities spanning North America.
Canada is hosting matches in Toronto and Vancouver, while Mexico features games in Mexico City, Guadalajara, and Monterrey.
The United States hosts the largest number of venues, including Atlanta, Boston, Dallas, Houston, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Miami, New York New Jersey, Philadelphia, Seattle, and the San Francisco Bay Area.
