Hezbollah Rejects United States Backed Ceasefire Deal With Israel and Lebanon Amid Rising Conflict

Ceasefire Rejection by Hezbollah
The armed group Hezbollah has formally rejected a United States mediated ceasefire agreement involving Israel and Lebanon describing it as humiliating and politically unacceptable. According to Hezbollah leadership the proposed framework undermines Lebanese sovereignty and effectively enforces surrender conditions on the group.
Disarmament and Withdrawal Dispute
One of the central points of contention is the requirement for Hezbollah fighters to withdraw from southern Lebanon and halt all military activity. Leader Naim Qassem stated that such demands amount to defeat and serve the objectives of Israel rather than peace. The group argues that removing armed presence from the south would weaken resistance capacity and reshape internal Lebanese balance.
Israeli Military Presence Concerns
The agreement has also been criticized for not clearly mandating full Israeli withdrawal from occupied areas in southern Lebanon. Hezbollah claims that continued Israeli ground presence and operational freedom to strike targets creates an uneven ceasefire structure. The group insists that any truce must include complete cessation of cross border military action without exceptions.
Security Zones and Control Issues

Another major dispute involves the creation of pilot security zones inside Lebanon where the Lebanese Armed Forces would have exclusive control. Hezbollah rejects this plan stating it would exclude resistance elements and divide national territory. The group views this as an attempt to restructure internal control in southern Lebanon under external influence.
Escalation and Humanitarian Impact
The conflict continues to produce severe humanitarian consequences. Reports indicate more than 3500 deaths in Lebanon since the start of the war along with over one million displaced residents. Continuous air strikes and border clashes have intensified instability while diplomatic efforts remain stalled.

International Mediation Efforts
The ceasefire proposal was developed through United States mediated talks involving diplomatic engagement between Israeli and Lebanese representatives. However Hezbollah was not directly included in negotiations and has dismissed the outcome as invalid. International outlets including Reuters and BBC News report ongoing uncertainty as both sides prepare for further discussions.
